Many of us, interested in Permaculture or Sustainability, have read books, blogs and papers, watched videos and discussed with experts.
We have found that the information may be overwhelming, and, when you decide to start taking action, you find that the first steps are difficult as hell.
Every homestead dreamer or green-hearted world citizen has big dreams on living a sustainable Life and showing others his/her accomplishments.
One of the biggest challenges is to focus. To change from a resource gobbler to a sustainable being is a very long path that has infinite kinks, which can loose you in the way.
So, it is important to have the "big dream", to visualize your life as green and as sustainable as your heart desires, but you have to have one think clear: It is one step at a time or there is no deal. And wen I say "one step at a time" I mean that you must investigate, make trials, fail, fail again and keep on going, until your endeavor has fruited. If you jump from one sub-project to the next, years will pass and no project will be at full capacity.
It does not matter if you do one or a hundred things, whatever you do must be done the best way you can do it, or else, you are just wasting your time, money and effort.
So, the first advise I could give on a change to a sustainable lifestyle is: decide carefully which one is going to be your first step, investigate and get dirty!! When you have your fist success (Your first organic tomato or your first yogurt batch) then you can move on, but never forget to always improve your sub-projects, keep track of everything and grow…
